Special Issue on eHealth Innovations and Psycho-Oncology
Information and communication tools and technologies are increasingly permeating our daily lives, with many applications being relevant to health and health care. In the context of psycho-oncology research and practice, such tools and technologies may target diverse populations (including at-risk individuals, patients/survivors, caregivers, and providers) and topics of focus across the cancer control continuum (such as assessment, lifestyle behaviour change and maintenance, medical decision making, psychosocial issues, symptom management, neurocognitive issues, and care coordination and delivery). Although the Internet has been the most widely employed delivery method for eHealth innovations, there has also been research utilizing social networking, mobile applications (apps), text messaging, digital gaming, video chat, and virtual reality. Advantages of such eHealth approaches include their potential to be cost effective and the ability to reach individuals across geographic locations and in their everyday environments.
This special issue seeks to publish innovative, timely, and high impact original research papers, brief research reports [Clinical Correspondence], and reviews on any aspect of eHealth innovations and psycho-oncology. We encourage submission of relevant manuscripts across the cancer control continuum (from prevention through early detection, treatment, survivorship, and end-of-life care), with the following cross-cutting topics being of particular interest: screening and assessment; disparities; theoretical and conceptual issues; cost- effectiveness; intervention testing; and dissemination and implementation. Studies that employ quantitative and/or qualitative research methods are welcomed.
The deadline for manuscript submission is 30th April 2019.
